Sufficient depth shall mean the minimum cover from the top of the pipe to finish grade at the storm drain alignment. Under normal conditions minimum cover for most types of pipe shall be twenty-four (24) inches above the pipe in paved areas and thirty (30) inches at all other locations.
Water that flows down driveways and streets and into a gutter goes into a storm drain which flows directly to a lake, river or the ocean.
Storm drains are untreated water, so there is a real risk of what you might encounter down there. Exposing your skin and clothes to drains can put you at risk to picking up nasty bugs such as e coli bacteria, swimmers itch, fungal infections and a plethora of other rashes, ailments, and overall unpleasant experiences.
